Cellular service operators, internet and Pay TV Argentine companies are free to set the prices it charges to its end users.

On Wednesday, the Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (Enacom), the Argentine telecommunications regulator, revoked the Decree 690/20 published on august 2020 where the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services was set as public essential services and established a price regulation by the Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones.

“The measure is essential to reverse the negative effects on the communications and connectivity market. These decisions have led to a decrease in the investments necessary to generate progress, growth and employment, encouraging an disproportionate state intervention in the sector”, said Enacom in a press release.

The Decree 690/20 represents an unjustified intervention that distort game rules and means a negative impact for companies, affirmed the Argentine regulator.

Last January, the Argentine Government has ordered an intervention in Enacom for 180 calendar days, with the possibility of a extension of that period.
